Meeting targeted at school retirees
Submitted by NKCRE
Retirees from local school districts are invited to an information meeting. The Northern Kane County Retired Educators will be hosting educator retirees at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Hickory Stick Bar and Grill, 875 Sports Way in Elgin.
The session will allow retiring educators from local school districts to learn about the programs of NKCRE and the Illinois Education Association’s Retired program. Janet Kilgus, IEARetired president, will present information on benefits of IEARetired membership and programs. A representative from the Teacher’s Retirement System also will offer comments.
NKCRE is in its second year of existence and seeks members from local school districts including Elgin Area School District U-46, Central Unit District 301, Community Unit District 300 and Huntley Unit District 158. Retired educators, whether teachers, administrators or educational support personnel, are invited to become members. Its goals include political activities, especially with respect to pensions and benefits. The organization also offers retirees the chance to become more able to continue political activism at the local and regional level. In addition, the group plans a variety of social and personal growth opportunities.
Newly or nearly retired educators need to RSVP their planned attendance for the March 12 meeting to NKCRE President Brian Mooberry, or NKCRE Secretary Larry Drafall at (847) 695-5112, or email drafiles@sbcglobal.net. Reservations should be made before Monday, March 4.
Light refreshments will be served at the meeting. For information, contact Brian Mooberry at brianmooberry@aol.com or (847) 697-3617.
