Lombard engineer named chair of Illinois Municipal League Public Works Committee

LOMBARD, Illinois—Village Engineer, David Dratnol has been working for the Lombard Public Works Department for 13 years and 10 of those years have been spent as a member of the Illinois Municipal League (IML) Public Works Committee. But now that will change. As of February, Dratnol was appointed Chairman of the committee, a post he will hold for a two-year term.

The Illinois Municipal League's Public Works Committee is a long-standing committee with a history of service to the IML. The membership of the committee consists of municipal engineers, public works directors and municipal engineering consultants.

Representatives from regional councils of government and planning organizations in the metropolitan area are observers of the committee.

The purpose of the committee is for dialogue to occur between the Illinois Department of Transportation and the municipal practitioners on issues and policies related to streets and traffic programs. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency also attends a few of the meetings to update the members of the committee and discuss environmental policy impacting municipal government.

Dratnol, who is one of the longer tenured members of the committee, chaired his first committee meeting in February.

“Mr. Dratnol has served as a member of the Illinois Municipal League's Public

Works Committee for quite a number of years. Throughout that time, Dave has taken an active role in getting involved with issues that are important to Lombard and to Illinois communities.

Most recently, Dave has been very helpful in trying to alleviate some of the burdens that have been placed on municipalities due to changes in the way the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency defines discarded soil.

As the Illinois Municipal League's liaison to the Public Works Committee, I am confident that Mr. Dratnol will bring his enthusiasm and knowledge that will lead the committee in the years to come,” said Joe Schatteman, Deputy Legislative Director of the Illinois Municipal League.
