President utters nonsense on algae as fuel
“Drill, Baby, Drill” has been the mantra of proponents who see extracting our domestic energy deposits as a way toward energy self-sufficiency. We now learn from President Obama that for decades the call for drilling and extracting our own resources has been nothing more than a political catchphrase meant to win elections but not to develop a coherent energy policy.
Be that as it may, had the United States been drilling for the past several decades, we might be well on our way toward the energy independence that has morphed into nothing more than political hot-air. President Obama’s solution to “Drill, Baby, Drill” is to “Grow, Baby, Grow.”
Our president, with a straight face advocated last week that growing algae was the way to energy independence. Yes, you read that correctly. Growing algae will lead to “greener,” pun definitely intended, energy pastures.
Gee, I wonder what political donor has an algae farm waiting for a Solyndra type loan guarantee.
Do you really believe had one of the Republican candidates for president advanced such a pronouncement, they would not have been scorned as loopy, out-of-touch whack jobs? President Obama utters this pearl of wisdom and it’s greeted with enthusiasm and the president is advanced as a forward visionary thinker.
Get your algae skimmers at your local hardware store or better yet, be prepared to be further skimmed out of your tax dollars for this truly green, in color only, initiative.
