Des Plaines man charged in sexual abuse, child porn case

Des Plaines Police have charged James Brewer, 49, of the 100 block of Village Court, with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated possession of child pornography.

In July 2011, the police department’s Criminal Investigations Division began investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving Brewer. The juvenile victims were known to Brewer but did not live with him, police said Wednesday.

In the investigation, detectives seized computers and digital media from Brewer’s home. They were forensically analyzed and numerous files of child pornography were found.

Brewer was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and with nine counts of aggravated possession of child pornography. The child pornography files discovered were not related to the sexual abuse investigation, police said.

Brewer is being held at the Cook County Jail awaiting arraignment in the Second District Courthouse in Skokie.
