Zediker wins in DuPage Board Dist. 5
John Zediker appears to have moved a step closer to keeping his seat on the DuPage County Board in District 5.
Unofficial results show Zediker narrowly defeated Joe Wozniak to win the Republican nomination for the seat. However, Wozniak has not officially conceded and is considering contesting the results due to the closeness of the race.
Zediker received 50.46 percent of the votes while Wozniak had 49.54 percent with all 125 precincts reporting.
"I'm just proud of the race we ran," Zediker said. "We had a lot of groundswell support and we were well organized."
Zediker, 37, of Naperville, was appointed to the board in February 2009. He is the president and CEO of Moser Enterprises.
His priorities include fiscal responsibility, investment in the county's infrastructure and economic development.
"We'll continue to keep an eye on the budget, hold the line on taxes and deliver efficient and transparent services," he said.
Wozniak, 66, of Naperville, is a real estate consultant and regional school trustee.
District 5 includes portions of Naperville, Aurora, Lisle, Woodridge and Warrenville.
Zediker will face Democrat Brian Duewel in the November election.
