Polling place needs handicap access

Right after the last time we voted early-at the fairly new Lake County Permit Center in Libertyville, we wrote Carol Calabresa on the Lake County Board to voice our concern and pointed out to her that the two sets of heavy double doors at the building’s entrance were not set up for handicap accessibility. She said she’d look into it and speak with the architects. Well, it’s time to vote again -and when we went to vote yesterday, we couldn’t help but notice nothing has been done to correct the issue. Physically challenged people will find it very difficult opening those heavy doors, especially on a windy day. Didn’t this building cost taxpayers in excess of $10 million? Citizens are urged to vote early-and at that facility. How could the Board, designer & architects miss door controls for the handicapped? Why hasn’t this been corrected?
