Dance academy dedicates gala to city of Elgin

The Gould Academy of Dance Arts, 732 W. Chicago St. in Elgin, has been training students of all ages from the Fox Valley area for 30 years. Donna Gould Jessen, artistic director and owner, is dedicating her 30th production to the city of Elgin.

The Gould Academy of Dance Arts will present its 30th annual gala production at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, and 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin.

The show will feature music and dances from the last 29 years and new dances for 2013. Students, ages 2-50, will perform dances in the styles of ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip hop, boys break dance and tumbling. The Gould Academy of Dance Arts is a landmark in Elgin. The GADA has provided positive artistic education, a creative outlet in today’s youth and the joy of dance to generations of students.

Tickets are $14 for kids or $24 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at Gould Academy prior to the event or at the door.

The artistic dance center features two private and fully equipped dance studios with professional dance floors, windows for parental viewing and a comfortable waiting area. The students come from Elgin, South Elgin, St. Charles, Bartlett, Schaumburg, Hampshire, Burlington, Streamwood, Dundee, Pingree Grove, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Huntley.
