Attendees included Lombard Village President William J. “Bill” Mueller, Villa Park Village President Thomas Cullerton, COD Board Chairman David Carlin and Trustees Dianne McGuire, Kim Savage and Nancy Svoboda.
“We are very proud to be here with you on this amazing campus,” said Mueller, who has served as Village President in Lombard for 18 years. “We appreciate all the College does for our community and look forward to a continued strong relationship with you.”
Village President Cullerton noted the College's recent campus transformation.
“This campus is gorgeous and so is Waterleaf. We will be back again and again and again,” said Cullerton, who was elected as Villa Park Trustee in 2005 and Village President in 2009. “It's fair to say we're extremely pleased with this incredible opportunity that's right in our back yard. Whether a student is coming here for a technical degree or moving on afterward to a four-year institution, the quality of the education they'll receive here is unquestionable.”
College of DuPage President Dr. Robert L. Breuder noted that last year, 448 recent high school graduates from Lombard and Villa Park chose to attend COD.
“That's a significant number, which I guarantee will be even higher when we tally enrollments from your communities for this year,” Dr. Breuder said. “More and more students and parents from our district – and even from outside our boundaries – are recognizing the value of making College of DuPage their number one choice for higher education.”
President Breuder closed the evening with thanks to Lombard and Villa Park participants who took time to share their visions and ideas for future partnerships with the College.
“Your input from this evening is very valuable to us. Your comments and suggestions will be gathered and used to help us improve programming for your community members and your students,” Dr. Breuder said.
