Incumbent Ford wins Democratic nod in Kane board District 6

Incumbent Ron Ford of Aurora will get a crack at another term on the Kane County Board.

Ford won the Democratic nomination for the District 6 position. No Republicans filed for the office. New parties and independent candidates have until June 25 to file for the general election.

According to unofficial results from the Aurora Election Commission and the Kane County clerk, with all precincts counted, Ford had 385 votes to Angie Greviskes’ 328.

Greviskes is the wife of former board member Paul Greviskes.

Ford has served since 2008. He cited public infrastructure projects as one way Kane County could reduce unemployment. As contractors are hungry for work in these difficult economic times, he said, the county should be able to get good prices on projects, as it did with the demolition of the old county jail.

Ford is a general contractor. He serves on the board’s finance and budget, judicial and public safety, human services, redistricting and labor management committees.

Greviskes cited after-school programming for at-risk youth among her top campaign issues.
