New conductor to work with EYSO youngsters
Daryl Silberman has accepted the honor of becoming the new Primo Conductor working with the youngest students of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Primo provides string players in third to eighth grade with their first orchestral experience. Focus is placed on technique, sight-reading, scales and auditioning skills.
Primo players receive more individual attention and mentoring than is usually possible in a large orchestral setting. They also spend the fall and winter preparing for their first performance in the spring. This season, Primo will perform in the “Star Cross’d: The Music of Romeo and Juliet” concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.
Silberman has a deep history of performance and recognition throughout the world for her musical style and skill in playing both her traditional instruments and a five-stringed electric violin. Her love of music shines through everything she does.
This is evident by her many accomplishments and her jam packed calendar as both teacher and performer.
The EYSO is delighted with her acceptance of the Primo Conductor position and looks forward to working with Daryl for many years to come.
