Coroner not sure yet how Wis. college student died

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County medical examiner’s office is holding off on a final cause of death for a 19-year-old found unresponsive in a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee pool.

Lifeguards pulled Connor Driscoll from the deep end Monday morning.

The office said Wednesday that initial results are consistent with drowning but the final cause of death will be determined after cardiac pathology and toxicology tests.

A UWM spokesman has said Driscoll’s death may be related to a health condition.

Driscoll and his roommate were practicing swimming for a physical education class when he stayed underwater. His roommate thought he was practicing underwater breathing.
