Incumbent Reyna loses in Kane District 3

Challenger Jennifer Laesch of Aurora defeated incumbent Kane County Board member Juan Reyna, also of Aurora, for the Democratic nomination for Kane County Board District 3.

Unofficial election results compiled by the Aurora Election Commission show Laesch with 56 percent of the vote, and Reyna with 44.

Three-hundred seventy-three votes were cast.

Reyna has served in the current District 3 since 2010, having defeated Laesch in the 2010 Democratic primary. Laesch had been appointed to the board in November 2009 to fill a vacancy left when Arlene Shoemaker moved out of the district.

Reyna, a lifetime resident of the city’s east side, cited his community roots as one of his strengths for the position. He works for Kraft Foods in Naperville.

No Republicans ran in the primary. New parties and independent candidates have until June 25 to file for the November general election.
