Cook commissioners name Nowaczyk to Pace board

Willow Springs Mayor Alan Nowaczyk was appointed to the Pace board of directors Tuesday by a caucus of suburban Cook County commissioners.

Nowaczyk said he hoped to use his previous experience running a trucking and towing business that extended across the continental United States to “better serve the needs of ridership” on the suburban bus agency.

After expressing his interest in the post to McCook Commissioner Jeffrey Tobolski, Nowaczyk was approved by acclamation when no other candidates stepped forward.

The appointment was originally scheduled for Feb. 2 but was delayed by the blizzard.

Nowaczyk replaces Richard Pellegrino, who left the 13-member Pace board at the end of September to pursue other opportunities. Suburban members of the Cook County Board appoint six members, and Nowaczyk will fill the rest of Pellegrino’s term, which expires in 2013.
