DeKalb man dies in Thursday crash
A 46-year-old man from DeKalb was killed Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on Campton Hills Road, authorities said.
James R. Jensen, of the 1000 block of North 14th Street, was heading westbound on Campton Hills Road near Ponderosa Drive at 4:29 p.m. when his Dodge Caravan left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.
Jensen was pronounced dead at the scene a few minutes later, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Campton Hills Police Department.
Police Chief Dan Hoffman could not immediately be reached for comment.
The coroner’s office declined to say if an autopsy had been done or when one was scheduled for Jensen. Coroner Chuck West said in a news release that Jensen’s death was under investigation and toxicology samples had been sent to a lab for analysis.
