Dr. Aga Silbert and dietitian Joan Kanute will present the “The Importance of Taking Care of YOU Through a Healthy Lifestyle and Good Nutrition” at the Women in Management Fox Valley meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The luncheon will be held at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin with networking at 11:30 a.m., luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 130 p.m. Cost for members is $22 and $25 for nonmembers. Local women business owners and managers are welcome to attend this month’s presentation. Reservations must be made for attendance online at the new website, wimfoxvalley.org.

Dr. Silbert and Kanute will provide information and practical advice taken from recent studies that emphasize how preventive measures of good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle reap positive health results.

Silbert, a cardiologist, serves as the medical director of The Womens’ Heart Center at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Her practice, Advanced Preventative Cardiology, is located in West Dundee. She is board certified in cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography, geriatric medicine and nuclear cardiology. She specializes in the early detection and treatment of heart disease and uses advanced cardiovascular lab testing to identify genetic risk factors early to help reduce the need for surgery and invasive procedures.

Kanute is a registered and licensed dietitian with 20 years experience in nutrition. Her experience with hospitalized patients includes management of patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, with a focus on critical care nutrition support. Additionally, Kanute has experience counseling individuals and groups in the community regarding weight loss and disease prevention. She has served as a legislative liaison for the American Dietetic Association and adjunct nutrition faculty at two local community colleges.

“We look forward to this health awareness presentation,” said Dana Vierck, this year’s president of Women in Management Fox Valley and a member of WIM Fox Valley since 2007. Vierck is director of development for the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
