Letter: Whatever happened to fearing God?
"To fear God, tell the truth and make money" is the avowed credo of this newspaper. We may say it, but we're not living the fear of God portion of that.
This letter is to submit that a serious decline in the influence of faith in God and in religious principles in American life and government is at the heart of our mass murdering epidemic. We care more about whether our political team is winning - indeed beating out the opposition - than we do about parenting and prayer.
We lose sight of the moral character of our elected officials. We eliminate God and prayer from schools. Most of the Founding Fathers had faith in God, and God's influence was important in their lives.
Hello, folks! We're seeing a distinct, steep and dangerous decline in the role of loving religious principles in American life and government. I submit that the murders will continue until that decline is arrested.
