Is Burns ready for prime time?

The Daily Herald’s account of the interview debate between Republican candidates for Chairman of the Kane County Board Chris Lauzen and Kevin Burns was astounding. Burns’ accusation that, “Chris is afraid of women and doesn’t like homosexuals” appears to be nothing more than an underhanded attempt to garner the female and homosexual vote. How does Burns know that? What credible evidence did he present to support that accusation? None.

When challenged on his remark Burns replied, “I’m dead fricking serious.” He continued with ridiculous sound bites such as Lauzen being, “Hypocrisy amok in wingtips,” and then, “You (Lauzen) are dumber than you look.” He then accused Lauzen of practicing, “political eugenics,” which can be a dangerous and controversial word because it carries a connotation of racism.

Does Burns have the maturity to run this county? He talks like the neighborhood bully who swaggers around with a big chip on his shoulder looking for trouble. The Republicans from the national level to local Kane County politics are incessantly bashing each other. In the process they are opening the door wide for Democrats to waltz right in and grab political power. It appears the Democrats will not have to campaign as long as Kevin Burns is doing their dirty work for them.

If Burns is the Republican nominee I would rather vote Democrat for the first time in my life. Even if it is Klinkhamer, and that is saying a lot.
