Benefit to be held for tot with cancer

Layla Alexis Jalowy was born on Sept. 26, 2010, and is the youngest of 3. She began her life seemingly healthy with no worries and full of happiness.

Just five days after her first birthday her family’s lives drastically changed when they discovered a lump near her neck. After a biopsy, Layla was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system in which immature nerve cells metastasize rapidly. It is one of the top three childhood cancers and the most common in infants.

A benefit will be held for Layla from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Moretti’s, 1175 W. Lake St., Bartlett. The event will include pizza, a cash bar, a silent auction and a raffle.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door for adults, $5 for ages 17 and under. Email laylaalexischarity@yahoo.com, visit facebook.com/laylaalexischarity or caringbridge.com or call Dana, at (847) 489-4406.

All proceeds will go toward Layla and the Jalowy family.
