Ultimate gymnasts place second at Bravo Classic

The Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7 girls’ teams from Ultimate Gymnastics of Gurnee all celebrated second place finishes at the recent Bravo Classic meet hosted by Phenom Gymnastics in St Charles. With a number of team members opting to travel to Florida for the Sanddollar Invitational, which was held the same weekend, those who stayed behind and braved the snow were certainly glad they did.

Top among the Level 6 achievements was a first place all-around win for Sylvia Raquel in the 10- to 11-year-old age group. She also took the top spot on floor exercise, scoring 9.45, and a third place on vault (9.30). In the same age group, her teammate Grace Miller won gold on uneven bars and Jessica Pasquesi took first on vault (9.475) and second in the all-around. There was also a silver medal for Gaby Inawat on bars.

Among the Level 5 girls, Olivia Roebuck had an excellent meet in the 9-year-old age group. She placed first on floor (9.60), second on vault and third on beam. Her consistency paid off with a silver medal in the all-around. In the same age group Kyleigh Boomer won gold on bars (9.375) and bronze on floor. In the 10+ age group, Riley Finnegan came away with gold on floor (9.575), silver on beam and bronze in the all-around.

While some of her Level 7 teammates were celebrating in Orlando, Waukegan’s Ella Peter was notching up successes of her own closer to home. She came away with four gold medals at the meet — winning everything except uneven bars in the 11-year-old age group. Her all-around score was an impressive 37.975. In the 13-year-old age group Julia Betman won both vault (9.60) and floor, was second in the all-around and third on beam.

At Level 8, Katie Schroeder claimed the top spot on bars and floor and placed second in the all-around in the 13-year-old age group. In the 14+ age division, Maddie Jacobs won the floor competition (9.525) with teammate Sara Becker close behind. Sara also placed third in the all-around.
