Burglars hit seven Waukegan homes over 10 days

Waukegan police are warning residents to be on the lookout after a series of seven burglaries, including one where a resident was roughed up.

The burglaries occurred in and around the area of Sunset Avenue and McAree Road from approximately Jan. 28 through Feb. 6, according to police.

In one case, a resident returning home noticed the back door forced open and entered the home. The offenders were still inside, and battered the resident, according to police.

Police said the injuries to the resident were minor.

In most cases, the suspects are kicking in doors to the residences and stealing electronics, jewelry and cash and have been seen in the area prior to or immediately after the crimes, according to police.

The suspects are described as black men in their 30s and have been seen wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled over their heads, police said.
