Immaculate Conception wins regional
Immaculate Conception 10, Walther Lutheran 7: The Knights (27-10) won the Class 2A Walther Lutheran regional championship and advance to Wednesday's Lisle sectional semifinals to face the host Lions. Trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Austin Hennessy launched a grand slam to put Immaculate Conception ahead for the first time. Jose Godinez (5-3), who hit a 2-run homer, was the winning pitcher in relief.
Naperville Central 4, Addison Trail 3: Shane Conlon, Matt Cmiel and Ryan Walsh had run-scoring singles for the Redhawks (30-4) in their nonconference win. Dan Ludwig pitched 4 innings while improving to 6-0. Costa Diamond doubled twice for Addison Trail (14-19).
WW South 8, Geneva 5: Steve Lemm went 3-for-3 with a triple, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored as the Tigers (17-17) rallied with 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tom Henning pitched 3 innings of relief to earn the win.
Glenbard North 14, Downers North 4: Brandon Clark went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI and Chris Caliva went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI for the Panthers (20-14) in the nonconference game. Andrew Bergmann improved to 8-4 on the mound.
Wheaton Academy 1, Hampshire 0: Winning pitcher Jon Burdett, who drove in the lone run, and Trevor Swaney, who got the save, combined on a 2-hitter for the Warriors (21-12).
Riverside-Brookfield 8, Glenbard South 3: Dylan Milkent went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Raiders (16-18) in their nonconference loss.
Sandwich 7, Montini 2: Tom Ruopp singled and drove in a run for the Broncos (14-17), who fell in the nonconference game.
