Quinn to name members of Dream Fund Commission

CHICAGO — Gov. Pat Quinn is set to announce the members of a state commission that will raise scholarship money for students from immigrant families.

Quinn will name the Illinois DREAM Fund Commission on Saturday afternoon at the Illinois Immigrant Integration Summit.

The Illinois Dream Act created a privately funded scholarship program for high school graduates from immigrant families.

The commission is to have nine members, including students, college and university administrators and faculty, among others.

The commission will create a not-for-profit entity to raise money for the scholarships, in addition to choosing recipients and publicizing the program.

Organizers say more than 1,500 people have registered for the Illinois Immigrant Integration Summit being held at Chicago's Malcolm X College.
