Overturned semi backs up Batavia traffic

An overturned semitrailer backed up traffic on Kirk Road in Batavia for more than five hours Monday.

The semitrailer ended up partially in a ditch near the intersection of Kirk Road and Fabyan Parkway about 3:45 p.m., police said.

Fire department crews remained on the scene as of 9:30 cleaning up oil that spilled from the vehicle, officials said.

The crash closed down at least one lane of Kirk Road between Fabyan and Hubbard Ave.

Police said the company whose product was in the trailer had to unload the truck before it could be uprighted, resulting in the delays.

The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash, police said.
