Skyscraper website collects data on tall buildings

A new website claims to be the world’s most complete resource for information on tall buildings.

The Skyscraper Center website was launched Thursday by the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

It includes profiles on every completed building in the world taller than 200 meters (656 feet). And it has information on thousands of other buildings in various stages of development.

The council’s researchers say the United States now has only one building, the Willis Tower in Chicago, on the list of the world’s 10 tallest buildings. New York’s Empire State Building was the tallest building in the world for 41 years, but is now ranked 18 on the list.

China now has 11 of the top 20 buildings in the world.
