Teach acceptance of all types of students
Condolences to Mr. John Halligan who recently lost his son, Ryan. Ryan was bullied in school. Our schools do a great job teaching race relations, accepting illegal immigrants and tolerating gays. However, it appears, that tolerating and accepting students like Ryan is beyond reach.
Bullying comes in different forms. A direct comment or physical threats may occur. Does the lack of inclusivity and overt shunning show intolerance to those who are a bit different? Schools should also teach acceptance of all students including those like Ryan.
