March 4-10 is “Local Government Week” in Lombard

The Village of Lombard is governed by the Council-Manager form of government, meaning that the strong political leadership of elected officials is combined with the strong managerial experience of an appointed manager of administrator, as defined by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA.) Lombard's elected officials are comprised of a Village President, Mueller; Village Clerk, Brigitte O'Brien; District 1 Trustee, Greg Gron; District 2 Trustee, Keith Giagnorio; District 3 Trustee, Zackary Wilson; District 4 Trustee, Peter Breen; District 5 Trustee, Laura Fitzpatrick and District 6 Trustee, William Ware. Lombard's appointed Village Manager is David Hulseberg, ICMA-CM, AICP.

Municipal government in Lombard includes the following departments: Police, Fire, Public Works, Finance, Community Development and the Village Manager's office. All the departments are managed by professionals who are appointed by the Village Manager.

During “Local Government Week,” the Village of Lombard will provide a number of ways in which residents may become more familiar with their government. The following schedule of events will take place during March 4-10:

March 5

• FREE Vehicle Sticker Drawing—All residents who visit the Village Hall will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing to win a free Village vehicle sticker. (The cost of the vehicle stickers is being personally donated by Mueller.)

March 6

• FREE Vehicle Sticker Drawing—All residents who visit the Village Hall will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing to win a free Village vehicle sticker.

• “Coffee With The Mayor,” 10 a.m.-noon. Join President Mueller for coffee and discuss what's on your mind. Appointments are appreciated (630/620-5718) but are not necessary. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

• “State of the Village”* address video viewing, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Village Board Room. If you haven't had a chance to see or hear about the annual address, stop by for a look and “Rediscover Lombard.”

• “Open Mike”* video presentation, featuring Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford and Illinois Representative Chris Nybo. 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., Village Board Room. Mueller interviews these two Illinois politicians and each speaks about his local involvement.

March 7

• FREE Vehicle Sticker Drawing—All residents who visit the Village Hall will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing to win a free Village vehicle sticker.

• Town Hall Meeting, 7-8 p.m., Village Hall Board Room. Bring your questions or concerns and join President Mueller for a casual Q & A with a town hall meeting format. Questions may be submitted by email to kottj@villageoflombard.org.

March 8

• FREE Vehicle Sticker Drawing—All residents who visit the Village Hall will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing to win a free Village vehicle sticker.

• Lombard officials and invited residents will represent Lombard at the College of DuPage Community Forum. Mueller, in addition to Villa Park Village President Tom Cullerton, will represent the two communities to the College of DuPage to explore how the college can better serve the communities. March 9

“I hope that residents will take some time out during the week to learn more about our local government,” said Mueller. “We are the layer of government and we provide programs that are closest to the people and services that they use the most often,” he added.

*Additional broadcast times of the following programs will occur as indicated:

• “State of the Village” address—Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays as 7 p.m.; Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and Fridays at 11:30 a.m.

• Local Government Week “Open Mike”—Daily at 4 p.m.
