Ind. thieves haul jewelry from store in buckets

HOBART, Ind. — Northern Indiana police say three men who broke into a jewelry store were captured on surveillance video hauling away jewelry in buckets.

The Times of Munster reports that the footage shows the three men scooping jewelry by the bucketful Sunday morning from display cases at Helzberg Diamonds in Hobart.

The three men had fled by the time police arrived at the scene after a burglar alarm was tripped.

Hobart police Lt. Jack Grennes says the video footage shows the men carrying empty buckets into the store and leaving with them filled with jewelry. The three men entered the store through a broken store window and drove away.

Grennes said Monday that the approximate value of stolen jewelry was not yet known.
