No injuries when car strikes school bus in Algonquin

No one was injured when a vehicle drove through a red light and struck a school bus filled with 22 children Friday morning in Algonquin, according to police.

The District 300 school bus was making a left turn off of Crystal Avenue onto eastbound Algonquin Road as the light turned yellow, police said. As the bus made the turn, a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country went through a red light and struck the rear side of the bus, police said.

Neither driver in the accident nor any of the 22 children on the bus was injured. Algonquin police said the bus was delayed for a short time, before continuing on its way to school.

The driver of the van was issued a citation for driving through the red light.
