Former Mich pastor charged with child assault
MARINETTE, Wis. — A former Michigan pastor has been arraigned in Wisconsin on child sexual assault charges.
A criminal complaint filed in Marinette County accuses 46-year-old Harold Markham of repeatedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl between July and September of 2007 in Niagara. Markham is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child, battery and disorderly conduct. The complaint says Markham had an argument with the same girl in August 2011, pushed her down and grabbed her throat.
The Daily News says Markham had been a pastor at the Baptist church in nearby Norway, Mich., until he was placed on leave and later resigned. Markham is due back in court March 30.
