ST. PETER SAINTS SWEEP
6th Grade Boys Win Local Basketball Tournament
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL (February 2012) – The St. Peter Arlington Heights Saints sixth grade boys basketball team swept through the competition to take home the first place trophy at the recent Schaumburg Wildcat Roundup tournament.
All 14 of the 11 and 12-year-old boys played as a team, contributed and helped strategize to win the entire tournament that took place at St. Peter Schaumburg.
Coached by Mike Antonetti and assistant coach Mark Sheasby, the sixth grade boys work and serve together on the court and off. “The boys played unselfishly and it showed in our transition game and point distribution. More importantly, every player supports their teammates on and off the court. This tournament is a model for how junior high athletics should be conducted with the game level competition and individual and team competitions that provide the opportunity for everyone to participate.”
“It was a great culmination of all the hard work the boys put in throughout the season!” added Sheasby.
In addition to three victories, the Saints won all of the ½ time competitions including the: 3 Point Shot—Luke Garrett; Free Throw—Jon Witte and Mikan drill—Steve Ringstrand.
Participants in the tournament included Barrington's St. Hubert Knights, Schaumburg's St. Peter Wildcats and Naperville's Bethany Royals.
