N. Ind. boy, 7, shot in arm when bullets hit home
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Northern Indiana police say a 7-year-old boy was shot in the arm when a hail of gunfire struck a South Bend home where a woman was inside with her five children.
The South Bend Tribune reports the boy was hospitalized with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm following Thursday night’s shooting.
South Bend police Capt. Scott Ruszkowski says the boy’s mother suffered a cut to her arm, possibly by flying glass from a shattered window. The boy injured in the shooting was sitting with his mother and a sibling at the time of the attack.
Neighbors say they heard the sound of a car driving by the home and then between five and seven gunshots about 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
