The Suburbs This Weekend: Floating lanterns, restaurants, and Seinfeld

Floating lanterns, a new restaurant, the return of a comic icon and tasters' choice at a Barrington bistro, are among the items Sean Stangland and Richard Battin feature this week on their The Suburbs This Weekend video.

Just like in one of Sean and Richard's favorite movies (“Tangled”), floating lanterns will take to the sky in Highwood Saturday evening, March 3, as part of the Lake County community's 125th anniversary. It's the Highwood Sky Lantern Fest. You get to make and launch your own floating lantern. Details at celebratehighwood.com

And as long as you're in Highwood, Richard suggests, why not try the new restaurant Nieto's, an American grill and wine bar in the space where top-ranked Carlos' Restaurant used to be. It has a Highland Park address, but it's basically downtown Highwood, 429 Temple Ave. (847) 432-0770.

Sean suggests attending one of two Jerry Seinfeld shows at 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Akoo Theatre at Rosemont. (800) 745-3000.

He also recommends a wine tasting and diner Satuday at Chessie's/111 Grille in Barrington. It's a five-course feast including entrees, desserts and five wines. Find them at 111grille.com.
