Tom Matta Big Band to perform in Rolling Meadows

The Tom Matta Big Band will perform the grand finale concert of Jazz in the Meadows at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Matta’s body of work as a musician spans an impressive spectrum of genres, styles and disciplines. He’s a highly sought-after bass trombonist, composer, arranger and educator in the Chicago area and nationally. As assistant professor of Jazz Studies at DePaul University, Thomas teaches Jazz Composition and Arranging, and Applied Tenor and Bass Trombone. He also coordinates the jazz combo program and directs the DePaul Jazz Orchestra. He is the founder and leader of the Tom Matta Big Band, comprised of a veritable who’s who of Chicago jazz.
