Second Annual Lombard/Yorktown Race For The Cure® A Great Success
The Susan G. Komen Lombard Race for the Cure marked its second year in Lombard as the first Komen race to be held outside of Chicago.
“We are incredibly grateful of the partnership Komen Chicago has with the Village of Lombard as the gracious host for our second Race for the Cure event,” said Michael Ziener, Executive Director of Komen Chicago. “In 2011 we had more than 3,000 participants and were able to raise nearly $400,000 which goes directly to funding lifesaving education, screening and treatment programs in the Chicagoland community; something we couldn't do without this valuable relationship.”
This year's race raised $380,000 in Lombard and provided great opportunity for a number of groups and organizations to get involved in the race as participants or by volunteering for the event.
Next year's Lombard's Race for the Cure will be held on September 23, 2012.
