Naperville Debuts Attainable Housing Toolkit
Online One-Stop Resource for Assistance Details City, County, State, Federal Options
The City of Naperville is excited to debut its Attainable Housing Toolkit, a comprehensive online document containing City, county, state and federal information and housing resources that are available to low- to moderate-income senior citizens and residents with disabilities.
The toolkit, which can be found on the City's website at www.naperville.il.us/attainablehousing.aspx, includes a variety of information from home rental, purchase and rehabilitation assistance programs to financial and support resources. Programs such as tax relief, transportation, mortgage credit, ready access loans and others are also briefly outlined with phone and email addresses provided for convenient use. A page of key contacts throughout the City of Naperville, its surrounding townships and counties and the State of Illinois are also provided in the toolkit.
“The Attainable Housing Toolkit is intended to be an easy, highly informative resource for residents in our community who are looking for various types of assistance,” Project Manager Katie Helfert said. “Not only are we creating awareness of all the resources and programs that can be utilized, we're providing it in one package that encompasses all areas of assistance from right here in Naperville all the way up to the federal government.”
The toolkit also reaffirms the commitment of the City of Naperville to continue supporting and addressing housing needs in the community. The document is one implementation item that is included in the report, “Action Plan: Addressing the Housing Needs of Naperville's Low to Moderate Income Senior Citizens and Residents with Disabilities.” The Action Plan report was developed after a series of public meetings and research analyzed impediments to fair housing in Naperville. Other ongoing implementation items include continued support of legislative initiatives that address housing needs, cooperation with government jurisdictions and non-profit organizations, pursuance of grant opportunities for new and existing programs and improvement of transit options for Naperville residents.
