Ill. House speaker to keynote governmental forum

ELMHURST — Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan will give the keynote address at the 5th Annual Governmental Forum on Tuesday at Elmhurst College.

Organizers say the Chicago Democrat will assess the state's budget crisis and preview issues that lawmakers will face in the coming months.

Madigan has been House speaker for most of the past three decades. He is also state Democratic Party chairman and will speak about the race for president and the impact of newly redrawn legislative districts.

The forum is from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There will also be addresses by former Republican House Speaker Lee Daniels — now an Elmhurst College political science distinguished fellow — and Lance Pressl, president of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
