Chicago woman gets 30 years in beating death
A Chicago woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the 2009 baseball bat beating death of a Joliet man.
Thirty-one year-old Jessica Ocampo was sentenced Monday. She is the last of three defendants to be sentenced in the case, along with 35-year-old Elvida Garcia and Garcia's teenage son. Garcia received 25 years in prison and her son received eight years.
Police say the victim, Eugenio Rosales of Joliet, reportedly met the two women at a tavern and offered Garcia $50 to have sex. After having sex at his apartment, they returned to the bar, where Garcia and Ocampo persuaded Rosales to come to Garcia's home. Once there, Rosales was reportedly robbed, kicked and beaten with a baseball bat. His body was later dumped in the park.
