District 155 superintendent resigns
Crystal Lake High School District 155 Superintendent Johnnie Thomas has resigned to take the helm of Rich Township High School District 227 in Matteson.
Thomas made the announcement Tuesday.
"We want to thank Dr. Thomas for his five years of service at District 155, and his commitment to our students and community," said Adam Guss, school board president.
The board is convening a special meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday to talk about the search for a new superintendent at the Center for Education, 1 S. Virginia Road, Crystal Lake.
"The board has full confidence in our administrative team, faculty, support staff, parents, students, and district partners to carry on the proud tradition of District 155 as the board now focuses on next steps for ensuring the best leadership for the district," Guss said. "We want to reassure staff, students, parents, and the community that supports will be in place for the start of the 2017-18 school year as we begin the search for a superintendent."
School starts Aug. 16 in District 155, which has four high schools and one alternate education campus serving roughly 6,600 students in grades nine to 12. The district serves communities in Lake and McHenry counties, including Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove and Lake in the Hills.
