Antioch troupe to stage Christie mystery

Submitted by Michele MacLennan

PM&L Theater of Antioch Illinois is currently in rehearsal for the next show of its 51st season, “Witness For The Prosecution,” one of Agatha Christie’s best known titles.

Christie adapted her short story “Traitor Hands” (first published in 1925) into the successful stage play in 1953.

In this three-act courtroom drama, set in England, Leonard Vole is arrested for the murder of Emily French, an elderly woman of whom Leonard became a friend and, eventually, a beneficiary. With the evidence stacked against him, Leonard looks to his wife to testify in his behalf, only to discover that she’s decided to act against him — as a witness for the prosecution.

Showings will be at 8 p.m. Feb. 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12, 19, and 26. The box office will be open 6-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays; and 1½ hours before curtain on performance dates.

Adult admission is $13; $10 for seniors 60 and older and students in high scool and younger.

To reserve tickets, come in during box office hours or call (847) 395-3055.
