Rosemont extends contracts with mayor's brother

Rosemont has extended cleaning and parking contracts for the Allstate Arena and Rosemont Theatre with a company owned by Mayor Brad Stephens' brother.

Bomark Cleaning Service, run by Mark Stephens, has had no-bid contracts for a number of village venues since the 1980s. The village board Wednesday approved higher rates for the next three years, though the contract language now includes a clause that allows rates to be renegotiated if either side has an economic hardship, according to Village Attorney John Donahue.

The mayor didn't vote Wednesday on the new agreements, and has said in the past he leaves contract negotiations up to staff members who manage the arena and theater.
