Round Lake Beach woman gets probation in drug raid
A Round Lake Beach woman was placed on two year’s probation Friday after she admitted possessing the cocaine police found in her house during a raid.
If Jacqueline Tornatore, 19, completes the probationary term successfully, the felony conviction for unlawful possession of a controlled substance will be removed from her record.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney George Pappas said agents of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group served a search warrant at Tornatore’s residence in the 1400 block of Beverly Drive on July 21.
Tornatore and Luis Garcia, 34, also a resident of the house, were taken into custody when police found 9.4 grams of cocaine on Tornatore’s person.
Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and faced up to three years in prison if convicted.
Garcia pleaded guilty to that charge on Dec. 2 and was placed on 18 months of probation and fined $300.
Circuit Judge John Phillips also ordered Tornatore to pay a $300 fine and told her she must perform 30 hours of public service while on probation.
