Welcome home for troops:

Grayslake Youth Center/The Oasis, 151 Hawley St., is coordinating community resources and hosting a “Welcome Home” event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday for all troops who have served in any overseas war. This event is free and open to military veterans from all branches, active or retired, and their families. The event will include food from several Grayslake establishments and live entertainment. Also on hand will be resources to provide returning veterans with networking opportunities for employment and education, Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and making the adjustment from serving in a war zone to civilian life. Grayslake Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts will be on hand, along with the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders, Grayslake village, fire and police officials, chamber of commerce, Exchange and Lions clubs, College of Lake County and others.
