Man charged with robbing workers at Elk Grove warehouse

A Chicago man has been charged with armed robbery, accused of holding up workers early Saturday at a warehouse in Elk Grove Village. He was caught in Rosemont after a chase by one of the victims in which shots were fired. He will be in bond court Monday morning.

2nd man charged in Carpentersville drug bust, chase

An East St. Louis man has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance after being injured during a Jan. 17 drug investigation in Carpentersville in which shots were fired near an elementary school. Leamon R. Cavitt, 44, of the 1600 block of North 36th Street, was released from a hospital Friday and transferred to Kane County jail. He had been injured in a car chase from Carpentersville to Itasca. Full story.

Columnist Burt Constable writes: The sight of me standing outside Steve Riedner's front door in Schaumburg sends Riedner into one of his belly-shaking, blue eyes-a-twinkling chuckles. He points to the jaunty, herringbone tweed newsboy hat on my head, reaches into his closet and pulls out an identical cap. Young ski jumpers soar over Fox River Grove

To young ski jumpers, Norge Ski Club's facility in Fox River Grove is definitely one of a kind. Calgary native Logan Mitchell, 14, says the Canadian jumps he's used to are more modern. “It's a little bit scary at first, but it's fun,” Mitchell said. Mitchell was among highly ranked junior jumpers from the Central and Eastern divisions who on Saturday took part in a junior national championship qualifier on the 70-meter hill.
