Palatine man to enter race

An 11-year Palatine resident who works in risk management said he will challenge longtime Palatine Councilman Jack Wagner in the District 5 race in April 2011.

Kollin Kozlowski, 39, is a board member for Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball, president-elect of the Palatine Amateur Football Association and past PTA vice president of Lake Louise Elementary School. He and his wife have three children. "As a longtime servant in our community, I would like to bring those same values, character, and ethics to our local government," Kozlowski said in a news release.

A councilman since 1987, Wagner ran for re-election unopposed in 2003 and 2007 after winning by wide margins in 1995 and 1999. He said he's never heard of Kozlowski and hasn't yet decided whether he's running for a seventh term.

"It's good government for someone else (to put) their hat in the ring," Wagner said. "I welcome that."
