Nekritz shouldn’t claim independence
We the people deserve respect. How stupid do politicians think we are? This is a legitimate question especially after reading campaign literature from state Rep. Elaine Nekritz that I found disrespectful. “She’s honestly different” is the 10-year incumbent’s new motto. How can an individual who has chaired the failed House Pension Committee, and who has spent the last decade as a “yes” vote for almost everything Speaker Michael Madigan has advocated, possibly tell her constituents that she is “honestly different”?
I am also wondering how career politicians such as Mrs. Nekritz keep using the word “independent” in their literature. This tactic was popularized by Sen. Mark Kirk during his years in Congress, but at least Mr. Kirk could make the case that he didn’t vote lock step with his party. Mrs. Nekritz, however, like almost all House Democrats, has essentially been a puppet of the speaker for her entire career in Springfield.
If Mrs. Nekritz or any career politician, regardless of party, wants to make the case that they didn’t contribute to the demise of our once great state, please do so in an honest manner that doesn’t try to make a fool out of the taxpayer. After a decade of being part of the problem, how can you now be part of the solution? Isn’t this the question that every elected official in the Illinois House and Senate must answer for the voters? Unfortunately, Mrs. Nekritz has decided that she has to run on fiction instead of fact.
