2 men convicted in murder of 10-year-old girl

Separate Cook County juries have found two men guilty of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of a 10-year-old Chicago girl.

One jury deliberated a little over four hours Tuesday before convicting 29-year-old Antoine Lacy of Sauk Village in the killing of Nequiel Fowler. Hours earlier, another jury convicted 22-year-old Raymond Jones of Chicago.

Nequiel was shot to death as she helped her 5-year-old blind sister walk through an alley on Sept. 1, 2008.

Two other people were also charged in the murder of Nequiel.

Closing arguments in the murder trial of the alleged shooter, 23-year-old Luis Pena, are scheduled for Wednesday. A fourth man, 27-year-old Joseph Chico of Chicago, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and testified the men were targeting rival gang members when the girl was shot.
