Waukegan police arrest two for weapons, drugs

Two men were arrested on weapons and drug charges Saturday after Waukegan police say they found four handguns, an illegal sawed-off shotgun and 1.6 grams of crack cocaine after a search of their apartment.

Police executed a search warrant at a home on the 900 block of 10th Street.

Julius Gaines, 43, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver it within 1,000 feet of a church. He was also charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Jalyn Gaines, 22, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was also charged with possession of a controlled substance as the result of a warrant issued by the Lake County sheriff's office.
