Grissom Base security officer faces arson charge

WALTON, Ind. — Indiana and military police have arrested a security officer at Grissom Air Reserve Base and his wife in connection with an fire at their home.

The Cass County Jail in Logansport was holding 38-year-old Ben Durr of Walton on a charge of arson and his wife, 33-year-old Wendy Durr, on a charge of conspiracy to commit arson following their arrests Wednesday. Both were being held on $2,000 bonds. Jail records did not indicate whether they had attorneys.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security says state fire marshals determined a Sept. 14 fire at their home near the northern Indiana air base had been intentionally set. Other details were not released.

A 2010 photo caption on the base’s website identified Durr as a staff sergeant in the 434th Security Forces Squadron.
