Suspect held in shootings that left 1 dead, 3 hurt

KOKOMO, Ind. — Central Indiana police have arrested a suspect in a series of shootings in Kokomo that left one man dead and three other people hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the head.

The Kokomo Police Department says 36-year-old Turama Stitts of Kokomo was arrested Thursday and taken to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. He faces one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Police said in a statement that authorities believe Stitts acted alone in three shootings on Thursday and a fourth shooting that occurred on Wednesday. All of the victims were shot in the head.

Police said 48-year-old Argena Williams died Thursday from her gunshot wound to the head. The three other shooting victims remain hospitalized.
