If yes, please explain: NoCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 I feel that the finances of the county government must be my number one issue.I believe that the County Board has done an excellent job over the last two years in reducing their budget.I would like to be part of future cost saving measures and efficiencies to help offset annual increased costs, therefore, maintaining a AAA bond rating along with a goal to reduce the tax rate.Key Issue 2 My number two issue is transportation improvements, which is an issue I often hear about.I feel that Lake County has seen many transportation improvements over the last several years, most recently, county highway and intersection improvements.I am looking forward to the Route 176 and Fairfield Road intersection improvement, as well as, River Road and Roberts Road roundabout intersection improvement. In addition, I have always been a supporter of the Route 53 Extension and the Route 120 Bypass for reasons being these projects would decrease congestion while increasing mobility maximizing the potential growth of economic development in Lake County.Key Issue 3 My third issue is to ensure a sustainable source of quality water in order to meet long term demands by continuing the process of expanding Lake Michigan Water in Lake County. An expansion of Lake Michigan Water in the Wauconda Township Area would provide more surplus for Cuba Township in the local aquifer.Questions Answers The county remains in the black, but property taxes across the region are high. Should programs be cut to save taxpayers money? If so, which ones and why?During the budget process I would consider funding only the programs that meet the Core Mission adopted within the County's Strategic Plan.Programs that fall outside the mission should be considered for reduction. What should be done with the Fort Sheridan golf course? If no building or management proposals come back from vendors, do you propose abandoning golf? If so, are you concerned about a lawsuit? If you propose building a course, how should it be funded?I would recommend that the agreement with the Army be renegotiated to eliminate the golf course requirement. The land should be used as open space enjoyment such as dog park, walking/bike trails, and habitat restoration. If a lawsuit did occur, I would defend my position as to what I felt was right. The Winchester House nursing home recently was turned over to a private company for operation. Should other county or forest district departments be privatized to save taxpayers money? Please explain.I think the County Board should always be looking for ways to reduce operating costs and if privatization is an option, it should be considered. Is there a specific type of service or amenity that is lacking in your district? If so, how do you propose to provide and fund that?I have not personally heard of any service or amenity that a resident felt the County was lacking.Should the county continue to pursue open space policies' Why or why not?I do believe that the County should continue to pursue open space as long as it does not have a detrimental effect on commercial or industrial growth and does not increase the tax levy or tax rate as promised by the Forest Preserve District.
